For this cycle, we branched out from classical art to include digital art as well! We chose to do so as graphic design has become an increasingly essential skill, and is not taught in Filipino public schools. Furthermore, we chose to hold this cycle in an internet cafe which is easily accessible to them. Because there are only two of us teachers, there were a limited number of slots for this cycle. This limitation prompted us to simply teach one teacher from each grade so that later on, they can possibly teach their own students too! One challenge we encountered was that the one of the teaching days got cut due to a typhoon. We then had to condense more information in a shorter period of time.
For this course, we asked them what skills they wanted to learn, and constructed our lessons around this. Each session was focused primarily on making simple posters. That way, the teachers could apply their newfound skills to promote their school events. At first, they were learning the basics by recreating posters we had made. However by the end, they were all able to create their own Christmas cards!
